Merzouga is the best best place to see the Sahara desert sand dunes and experience an overnight under the Berber, this also a great opportunity to see the most remarkable attractions in southern Morocco including Ait Benhadou Ksars, Ouarzazate Hollywood, Dades & Todra gorges, Erfoud & Rissani, Erg chebbi dunes.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate -Dades. 360km
We will pick you at 8 am from Marrakesh to discover our beautifull country. We drive via the western High Atlas mountains to cross Tizi n’Tichka pass is the highest point in the Moroccans roads. We will do many stops and take your time to enjoy impressive landscapes and views and Berber villages and towns, also we will enjoy break for coffee and toilettes. After a few hours from Marrakech we will cross a desert area between the High Atlas and the Anti Atlas then Lunch in Ait Benhaddou town , After lunch in the afternoon we will visit the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah. This Berber Kasbah which is very important point for international film productions (more than 20 films was filmed there). It was also one of the most important fortress strongholds on the old crossRoad where caravans brought slaves, gold, ivory, salt. Then we’ll pass through city of Ouarzazate,which is called Hollywood of Africa, and there you will have an option to visit Atlas Studios. After Ouarzazate we will continue to Dades Valley , trough the Skoura oasis (berber villages around the valley), and rose valley and we will spend the night in Dades gorges.
Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga. 270km
After breakfast in our guesthouse, we will drive up through the valley to see the amazing and crazy raod and take pictures, then we drive back to the bothem of the valley to have a stop in the rock formation called “the monkey toes”, and the to take a pictures of the real berber life and archeticture. We will leave Dades Valley towards Tinrghir and the Todra Gorges, where you’ll see panoramic views of the old town of tinghir mixte between jewishe and muslims tribes. We arrive to the Todra Gorge and you’ll walk under the 300 m high red cliff, where many Rock-climbers come to enjoy this spot and to do some of this adventure. We will continue to Tinjdade, and having lunch in a small town called Touroug in a huge plateau, then Erfoudthe fossils city and Rissani where the Alaouite denasty city. Then we will drive to the village of Merzouga where your camel will be waiting for you. You will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea, you will ride your camels into the mysterious sand dunes of the Erg-Chebbi. This camel ride will be guided by an experienced person. You will spend your night under the stars, in a traditional Berber nomad tent.
Day 3: Merzouga – Marrakech. 580km
After the sun rise you will enjoy camel ride back to the village of Merzouga, and you will take a shower in the hotel and have breakfast, you will be surprised by the unique beauty of the Erg Chebbi dunes changing with the light as the day progresses. Then we drive to continue our Adventure towards Agdz, via Alnif and Tazarine, before we arrive at the fascinating Draa Valley and we cross the Anti atlas , and overlooking on Ouarzazate city .
Lunch break in Ouarzazate, continue afterwards through Tizi-n-Tichka and back to your accommodation in the city.
